Doing a 180: Bad Company’s First Two Albums are Back on Vinyl

There’s a lot of Bad Company to be had here at Rhino this week, as we’ve just reissued Bad Company’s Bad Company album – which, as you probably know, also features the song “Bad Company” – on 180-gram vinyl. We’ve also reissued the band’s sophomore effort, Straight Shooter, which includes “Feel Like Making Love” and “Shooting Star” and is a pretty great slab of ‘70s rock in its own right…but, darn it, it’s just not as much fun to announce as that whole Bad Company trifecta.

Good ol’ Bad Company. Their self-titled effort was the first album to be released through Led Zeppelin’s Swan Song Records, and the combined talents of frontman Paul Rodgers, guitarist Mick Ralphs, drummer Simon Kirke, and bassist Boz Burrell took the record all the way to the top of the Billboard Top 200, with the singles “Can’t Get Enough” and “Movin’ On” making it to #5 and #19 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. Shooting Star may have only made it to #3, but with “Feel Like Makin’ Love” hitting the top 10 and “Good Lovin’ Gone Bad” cracking the top 40, it was hardly a sophomore slump.

Both albums are full-fledged album-rock classics no matter how you look at it, making them a perfect choice for reissue, so go pick ‘em up, place them gently on your turntable, and give ‘em another spin.
