Out Now: Linda Ronstadt, Frenesí

You may recall that it was only a short while ago that we reissued Linda Ronstadt’s first two Spanish-language albums: Canciones de Mi Padre and Mas Canciones. Now it’s time to bring the third one back into print as well.

Originally released in 1992, Frenesí – like Mas Canciones – did not approach the same lofty chart heights that Canciones de Mi Padre did when it first hit record store shelves, but although it only hit #193 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, it made it to #17 on the Tropic / Salsa chart (yes, there really is such a thing) and #3 on the Top Latin Albums chart. Beyond that, Frenesí also spawned no less than three top-40 hits on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks chart: “Entre Abismos” (#33), “Perfidia” (#7), and the title track, which provided Ronstadt with a #5 hit on the chart.

The next time Ronstadt released a new album – Winter Light, which was only a year later (when she was recording, she was notoriously prolific) – she was singing in English, and she’s never again ventured into another complete album in Espanol. For now, though, at least her fans can be comfortable in the knowledge that this reissue of Frenesí means that her entire trio of Spanish-language albums is now back in print for their – and your – listening enjoyment.
