A pillar of the New Orleans music scene, Allen Toussaint was a talented performer, songwriter and producer. He started out as a piano player in his teen years. Toussaint eventually formed his own company and ran his own recording studio. He wrote numerous hits in the 1960s and 1970s. Toussaint died in 2015 at the age of 77.
